Catherine Montague, President of Green Design Innovation was recently featured in Pittsburgh Magazine’s The Nest, an online publication that highlights “Tips and Trends” from top designers. Catherine shared how she helped a client increase the size of their master bathroom to include a master suite featuring a large bathroom, walk in closet and sitting room.
When clients want a master bathroom suite, space is often a consideration that must be taken into account. Sometimes a small bedroom can be converted into the space to create the amenities such as fireplaces, a sitting room and walk in shower.
High-end bathroom fixtures can add a luxurious and even artistic quality to the bath space in your home, extend the longevity of the design and add to the home’s resale value.
The first consideration when it comes to high-end bathroom fixtures is the material used. Materials have the greatest effect on price, and high-end materials tend to be both more attractive and more durable than mid-range or budget priced options.
Because natural light is often at a premium in bathrooms, the proper lighting is important whether you’re remodeling an existing bathroom or installing a brand-new one. Sconces and track lighting work well on walls or ceilings in most bathrooms, and ceiling lights are common in bathrooms and can range from simple, dome-covered bulbs to ornately designed chandeliers.
Countertops and sinks come in a variety of styles. Typically master suites feature granite countertops. Modern vanity tables and furniture will also highlight the sleek, clean lines free from clutter. Ceramic tile within the walk-in shower and on the walls come in a variety of sizes and styles.
As with any renovation or remodeling project involving Catherine Montague and Green Design Innovation, the first step in the process is for her to meet with the client to determine current and future needs for the space. This process helps to ensure the success of the project and overall satisfaction of the client.
