Pittsburgh has once again been named among the most livable cities. According to Money’s Best Places to Live 2015, Pittsburgh is No. 1 in the Northeast. Gone are the smoky skies that bellowed from the city’s steel mills. Downtown continues to be transformed into diverse opportunities for fine dining, culture and urban living.
Money credits “tech-rich” University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University for providing the brain power that reinvented the ‘Burgh’s economy. Home to technology and robotics incubators, Pittsburgh is becoming the Silicon Valley of the east.
With the changing landscape comes the demand for downtown living. From a penthouse point of view in Gateway Towers and Piatt Place, residents have a beautiful backdrop of our waterways and the north shore.
Catherine Montague, with Green Design Innovation, has been involved in a number of penthouse renovations. Working with homeowners, she meets with them to understand their lifestyle and entertaining preferences, as well as current and future needs. From empty nesters, bachelors and young professionals, everyone has different wants and lifestyle must-haves.
A young professional may need additional closet storage to accommodate an expansive wardrobe; whereas empty nesters may want to highlight artwork they have collected throughout their years of traveling. Everyone is different and their décor and interior layout will reflect their lifestyle.
As part of the process, Catherine analyzes the entire flow of the space to blend color and style as you move throughout the penthouse. Accessories and furniture are taken into consideration as she envisions the use of the space. Drawings are prepared to allow for furniture placement and/or adjustments. In some cases, she goes and shops with the homeowner to select just the right piece of furniture.
Color consultations provide homeowners a palette of shades that will blend the colors throughout your home. Prior to painting, large color samples in lieu of the small paint swatches are provided to homeowners to place against furniture and cabinetry to allow them to better visualize what the color will look like with their furnishings.
Pittsburgh has adapted and reinvented itself to be one of the most desirable cities to live, work and play. We invite you to explore our wonderful city, the culture it has in its museums and the arts, and to enjoy our awesome sports teams. Living in a vibrant town is exciting and fun. Does your home reflect that message? If not, give us a call at 412-741-2095 to see how we can help make your home as vibrant as our city!
